Kolkata Knight Riders claimed their second victory of the 2018 Indian Premier League as they thrashed Delhi Daredevils by 71 runs at Eden Gardens on Monday.
Having been put into bat, KKR were able to post a very competitive score of 200 for nine, even with a remarkable final over from Rahul Tewatia going for just one run and at the expense of three wickets.
The Delhi outfit started their reply adequately but some fine bowling, particularly from Sunil Narine, eventually saw the Daredevils all out for 129 in the 15th over.

Keeping wickets in hand was the crucial factor for KKR in their innings. Their scoring was not necessarily swift early on and when Chris Lynn fell for 31 in the 11th over, Kolkata only had 89 runs.
But they also had seven wickets in hand and a quick-fire 61 partnership between Nitish Rana and Andre Russell proved crucial.
Rana was eventually out for a very valuable 59 from 35 balls, but it was Russell’s innings that was the more explosive.
The West Indian all-rounder made 41 from just twelve balls in an innings that included six boundaries, all of them maximums.
The KKR tail failed to wag after Rana fell midway through the 19th over and Tewatia’s final over was supreme, per Cricbuzz:
Brilliant final over from Tewatia – 1 W . . W W
But KKR have a mighty 200 on the board #KKRvDD #IPL2018
But the damage had already been done and a target of 201 looked very daunting for the Daredevils.
Unlike their hosts, Delhi failed to build pressure by hanging on to their wickets.
They were three down for 24 after three overs and, despite some fine hitting in the middle order from Rishabh Pant (43 from 26 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (47 from 22), they simply did not have enough strength down the order.
Narine, a master of his craft, finished with figures of three for 18 from three overs, and also took his 100th wicket for KKR, per ESPN Cricinfo’s Bharath Seervi:

100 wickets for Sunil Narine in IPL, all for KKR.
He’s the third bowler after Malinga (154), Harbhajan (127), both for MI, to take 100+ wickets for a team in IPL.
Trent Boult fell for a duck two balls into the 15th over to complete a very professional display from the Knight Riders.
