Desiree Linden Waited for Friend’s Bathroom Break During Boston Marathon Win

Desiree Linden became the first American woman since 1985 to triumph in the Boston Marathon on Monday and she prevailed despite waiting on compatriot Shalane Flanagan as she took a bathroom break.

Per Nicole Yang of the Boston GlobeFlanagan stopped for a comfort break over an hour into the race and Linden waited to help her rejoin the pack despite the move costing her 10 to 15 seconds.
