Huge midfielder swap deal touted between Man United & PSG

The Independent have this afternoon revealed that Paul Pogba’s recent problems at Manchester United have seen the possibility of a swap deal between the Premier League giants and PSG involving the 24-year-old and Marco Verratti come to the fore.

Gifted French international Pogba made his return to Old Trafford for a then-world record fee of 105 million Euro in the summer of 2016, following a 4 year-stint with Italian giants Juventus.

Following a difficult debut campaign back with the club, Pogba began to showcase his brilliance during the early months of the current campaign, racking up assists for fun and controlling the tempo of a number of United’s clashes.

However, several injury problems, coupled with a recent fallout with manager Jose Mourinho, have seen Pogba’s form dip badly, with the former Juventus man currently struggling to even earn a place in the Red Devils’ starting XI.

Blockbuster deal

As such, inevitable rumours have begun to circulate that Pogba could seek an exit from Old Trafford this summer, with the aforementioned report from the Independent this afternoon suggesting that Manchester United have prepared several contingency plans in case such a scenario does in fact come to fruition.

And one such plan is said to involve PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, whom United have been linked with on several occasions in the past.

As per the Independent’s article, the board of the Red Devils have discussed the possibility of offering up Pogba in a swap deal for Verratti, though the report adds that any such deal ‘is still seen as some way off’, with ‘United still valuing Pogba as a player for their future, and all involved determined to make it work.’
