Everyone goes Messi mad after he breaks a personal record v Chelsea

Messi madness

It was never going to be a quiet night for Lionel Messi as he and Barcelona looked to secure a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Argentine has exceeded even his high standards at times this season and has been pretty pivotal in Europes top competition

That meant that Chelsea were unlikely to get off the hook when they went to Barcelona in hope of silencing the attacker.

Unfortunately for Antonio Conte, his side could only silence the forward for a total of two minutes and eight seconds.

That is because the Camp Nou’s star man gave his side the lead within the first three minutes of the game.

The star was able to find space from what looked like an impossible angle, but not for Lionel Messi.

The player managed to stick it through Thibaut Courtois legs and stunned the travelling Chelsea fans.

It didn’t stop there though, with the player setting up the second goal with a brilliant run at the Blues defence.

Having nicked the ball off Cesc Fabregas, Messi set his sights on running at the defence and he knocked it round the tackles of Andreas Christensen and César Azpilicueta.

It then looked so simple for the star who played the ball across the box to set up Ousmane Dembele who smashed into the top corner.

Personal best broken

It seems as though every time Lionel Messi plays, he breaks another record.

That was no different this evening as he faced Chelsea, breaking one of his personal bests.

The player’s first strike came so quick, that it officially went down as his fastest ever goal.

That was, as previously mentioned, two minutes and eight seconds and the player will certainly be delighted to best himself again!

Social media reacts

Not only did he possibly impress himself with how fast he scored, he impressed the majority of social media.

There was certainly some Messi madness in the air on social media.
