David de Gea considering move away from Man United following Seville humiliation
David de Gea is understood to be very unhappy at Manchester United’s elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Seville on Tuesday, according to Goal.
The Reds Devils were shocked as Wissam Ben Yedder struck twice to knock the three-time holders of the trophy out of the competition in the last-16.
Real Madrid have been made aware that the Spanish number one is unhappy with United’s progress as a team and are closely monitoring his situation.
De Gea’s disappointment
Man United’s stunning exit from the Champions League is understood to have renewed hope in Madrid that Los Blancos can finally complete a deal for de Gea.
Real Madrid came extremely close to signing the goalkeeper back in 2015, only for the infamous fax machine leading to a last-minute administration error which prevented the move from going through.
However, Real Madrid now sense the chance to make their move for the 27-year-old and convince him to leave Old Trafford for the Santiago Bernabeu.
Over the last few seasons, de Gea has been one of Manchester United’s best performers having won the club’s Player of the Year award between 2013 and 2016.
Manchester United 1 (1) – (2) 2 Seville
Ben Yedder struck twice as Seville produced one of the shocks of the competition so far by eliminating Jose Mourinho’s side.
The French striker came off the bench on minute 72, just 87 seconds later he managed handed his side the lead as Seville cut through the heart of Manchester United’s defense with ease.
Four minutes on and he had completed his brace and booked the Spanish club’s place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Following a scintillating display on Saturday against Liverpool in the Premier League, United looked just the opposite, lethargic in attack and lackadaisical in defense.
In the end, they got just what they deserved and were simply not good enough on the night to advance.
