Steven Gerrard ‘confirms’ Emre Can’s Liverpool exit

Emre Can & Liverpool

At the end of the season, German midfielder Emre Can will be a free agent.

24-year-old Can is out of contract at the end of the campaign, and Liverpool have been unable to lock the 24-year-old down to a new deal.

On BT Sport on Wednesday night, Steven Gerrard appeared to let the cat out the bag regarding Can’s next move.

In a throwaway comment on live TV, Gerrard confirmed that Can will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

Gerrard also noted that Naby Keita will arrive from RB Leipzig.

Steven Gerrard should know

Being a Liverpool legend obviously gives Steven Gerrard an insight into the behind the scenes activity at Anfield.

However, Gerrard is also a Liverpool employee. He’s the manager of the Reds youth team.

That all suggests that Gerrard has inside knowledge about Can.

Liverpool fans should start preparing for life after the German.

It’s worth noting that Emre Can is tipped to join Juventus for free in the summer.

Juventus & Jack Wilshere

But could Juve try to sign Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere as well?

That rumour is floated in the tabloid on Thursday.

Wilshere, like Liverpool’s Can, is currently set to be a free agent this summer when his Gunners deal expires. The Mirror report:

Italian giants Juventus have enquired about Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

They are set to be disappointed though, because the England international is ready to sign a new deal to stay at the Emirates — despite the Gunners’ opening offer representing a basic-wage pay-cut on his current terms.
