Gonzalo Higuain scored the quickest brace in Champions League history vs Tottenham

Juventus 2-2 Tottenham

Tottenham were remarkable in Turin on Tuesday night and came from 2-0 to draw 2-2 with the Italian champions.

Gonzalo Higuain scored in the 2nd minute before adding a second from the spot less than 7 minutes later.

Harry Kane scored in the 35th minute to make the tie interesting before Serge Aurier gave away a careless penalty just before half time.

Higuain, needing just one more goal to secure a Champions League hat-trick, struck the bar and Spurs equalised in the 71st minute through a Christian Eriksen free kick.

Despite his missed penalty, Higuain broke a very impressive Champions League record.

8 minutes and 7 seconds

Julio Ricardo Cruz scored a brace within the first 8 minutes and 30 seconds of Inter Milan’s 2-1 win against Spartak Moscow in 2006.

The former Napoli striker beat the record by 23 seconds.

You can watch his goals (along with Kane and Eriksen’s) below:

Higuain was still a long way off from scoring the Champions League’s quickest ever goal.

That goal was scored by Bayern Munich’s Roy Makaay in a match against Higuain’s former club, Real Madrid, back in 2007.

Makaay scored after just 10.1 seconds as Bayern Munich won a thrilling match 3-2.

Former Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis scored the Champions League’s quickest ever hat trick back in 2011.

The French forward netted 3 goals between the 45th and 52nd minutes of the match.

Can Juventus beat Spurs at Wembley

Tottenham have become a dominant force at Wembley and just like in their last season season at White Hart Lane, they have made their home ground a fortress.

Juventus were the favourites going into the tie but after last night’s result, everybody will be expecting Spurs to progress to the quarter finals.

It would be the second time that Spurs had reached the last 8 of the competition since Arsenal last managed to do so.
