Everton to challenge Tottenham for Dutch wonderkid

Squad depth

Everton are set to go head-to-head with Tottenham in the summer transfer window for one Dutch wonderkid as both looking to strengthen in attack.

The two sides are looking to add some depth to their attacks and are looking at youth to bring in to fill that role.

Tottenham have recently brought in Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain but could still do with a left-winger.

Everton also brought Theo Walcott into the club but only have Yannick Bolasie who has only just returned from injury and Nikola Vlasic who hasn’t featured in the squad for a number of weeks.

That means that both are at least on the lookout for attacking threat and it looks as though they have both looked at one player in particular – Steven Bergwijn.

The Dutch 20-year-old plays for Eredivisie table-topping PSV and has really helped out with the clubs season.

Despite being young and inexperienced, he has scored five goals and created six assists in 22 games.

That has saw PSV go seven points clear at the top of the table and has everyone looking at Bergwijn.

Not only has he impressed for his club side, he has also been tipped to break into the senior Netherlands side soon.

ESPN now claim that Everton and Spurs are both tracking the player, which could lead to a summer move.

They also claim that PSV are bracing themselves for bids in the summer and admit that the Premier League is a likely destination.

Safe to say, Everton and Tottenham could be at the front of the queue and would be set to go head-to-head for his signature.
