Bournemouth vs Arsenal

When the team sheets were finally revealed on Sunday, Arsenal fans had a meltdown.

In the warm up to the Bournemouth game, leaks trickled out from inside the Gunners camp about the composition of the team.

Rumours made it clear that Chilean star Alexis Sanchez and German playmaker Mesut Ozil were both not involved.

And then the team sheets were announced, as follows:

Bournemouth:

Subs:

Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Chambers, Mustafi, Holding, Bellerin, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Wilshere, Walcott, Iwobi, Lacazette.

Subs:

Alexis Sanchez & Mesut Ozil

The more worrying absentee was Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean is keen to leave the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window. And according to all reports on Sunday, the South American’s absence against the Cherries was to seal that exit.

If the rumours are true, Manchester United are ahead of Man City in the race for Alexis.

Mesut Ozil missed the Bournemouth game for health reasons.

The German is out with a knee injury. It’s unclear when he’ll return.

Gooners in meltdown

Arsenal won the reverse fixture back in September at the Emirates. Danny Welbeck scored a brace and Lacazette added another as the Gunners ran out 3-0 winners.

Yet that previous result gave Arsenal fans little reason for cheers on Sunday.

Cue the Arsenal meltdown.
