Wayne Rooney vs Harry Kane: Everton fans rage at Tottenham bias

Tottenham vs Everton

The late match in the Premier League on Saturday saw Tottenham host Everton at Wembley.

Minutes into the second half, Spurs had complete control of the match.

South Korean star Heung-Min Son fired Tottenham ahead midway through the first half against Everton. The in-form forward was in the right place to convert a delivery from Serge Aurier from the right.

Early in the second period Heung-Min Son turned provider.

A brilliant turn down the left hand side freed Son, and he teed up Harry Kane to double the lead.

That goal meant Harry Kane joined Teddy Sheringham as Spurs leading scorer in the Premier League on 97 goals.

He later went on to eclipse that record with his second of the game.

But as soon as Kane scored, Everton fans started to fume.

In the first half, Wayne Rooney had a header chalked off for a marginal offside call.

The call was correct – Rooney’s shoulder and arm were offside – however the refs were far kinder towards Kane.

When replays of the Kane goal played, it was clear that Tottenham’s star striker was also just offside.

Sadly for Everton, the linesman who made the Rooney decision missed the Kane offside call.

Cue the social media backlash.
