Watford 2 – Southampton 2

The points were shared at Vicarage Road on Saturday as Southampton were held to a 2-2 draw at Watford.

Southampton were left the match raging after they took a 2-0 lead away against the Hornets.

Prior to Saturday, Saints midfielder James Ward-Prowse hadn’t scored all season in the Premier League.

He broke he duck for the season with a well-placed shot in the first half. And Ward-Prowse put Southampton 2-up at the break as he scored his second of the season.

But Watford hit back in the second half. Marco Silva’s side got a foothold in the match when Andre Gray found the target.

In the 90th minute Watford levelled when Abdoulaye Doucoure scored a dramatic second.

But Watford’s leveller should never have stood.

Abdoulaye Doucoure punched the ball in back of the net.

Doucoure put his hand on the ball as he tried to score with a header. It was pretty clear to see, however the officials completely missed it.

Interestingly, as soon as the ball crossed the goal-line a group of Southampton players immediately raised their hands in protest against the handball.

Obviously those protests lead to nothing.
