Man City vs Bournemouth: Premier League preview

Premier League leaders Manchester City host Bournemouth at the Etihad on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side were in midweek Carabao Cup action, progressing to the semi-finals after a 4-2 penalty shootout win at Leicester.

Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the first half but the match finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Man City maintained their 11-point lead at the top of the table thanks to their emphatic 4-1 win over Spurs last weekend. Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling (2) were all on target.

Can Man City make it 17 wins on the bounce?

A win on Saturday would extend City’s record winning streak to 17 consecutive matches.

Bournemouth were also in midweek action away at Chelsea. Dan Gosling’s stoppage time equaliser looked to have sent the match to extra time but Chelsea replied immediately through Alvaro Morata to eliminate the Cherries.

The defeat was the third on the spin for Eddie Howe’s side, who are now seven matches without a win.

Last weekend’s 4-0 home defeat to Liverpool leaves Bournemouth just one point above the drop zone.
